BIKE HIRE
If you are going to hire a bike, please attempt something like the 'look' above, which is about as butch as you are likely to find in Ibiza.
Mopeds and motor bikes are very cheap to hire, and are very popular, being a great cheap want to get out and about.. If you do hire a bike of any kind, wear something on you arms and legs so if you do 'come off' you will not rip off all of the skin from your body. We are not talking full leathers, but if you are going to take the risc to enjoy a day out in the sun make some effort to look after your-self - sun tan lotion is not enough on a bike. If helmets are not provided by the rental company, or are not in good condition, go somewhere else.
You will, quite naturally, have to pay for replacement keys/loaned helmets should you loose or damage them.
Moped hirers occasionally get off their face and often end up in hospital while attempting to get to the beach before the sun sets, any number of hours after originally setting off out for the previous days night. Be careful.
You can rent a bike just about anywhere you can rent a car. Motor bikes are much easier to park in and around Ibiza town, car parking now being highly regulated.
The average moped driver does tend to look like this...

Push-bikes do tend to be a safer bet, as you have to be in a fit state, and determined to get up and get out and about to actually mount one.
There are a number of push bike hire shops dotted around Figueretes and Ibiza Town. Bike hire costs between €10 and €18 per day. You will need ID and a hefty deposit for the better quality mountain bikes to go with any particular pair of sunglasses.
Formentera, the island just across the water from Ibiza, is a leisure cyclists dream (as it is just about as flat as you can get without being under water) and there is a bar at the end of most routes -why else would a route exist...
Wearing skin-tight Lycra® (spandex), sun glasses and a helmet can get you some serious attention to and from the beach and the occasional damp patch.
Have a wonder around the streets, or check the local yellow pages for the nearest bike hire company.
