SUPPLIES and SERVICES
There are few things better than having friends around for an afternoon poolside bbq, that carried on to the next day. (Well none that wouldn't best be described by a couple of indiscreet pictures.)
Supplies for more involved parties can be a little hard to come by unless you are pointed in the right direction...
Supermarkets
There dozens of Small Supermarkets and corner shops dotted around Ibiza town, so you do not need to travel far to pick up a bottle of vodka for €9.00
The smaller town stores carry all the basics. But they do tend to be as basic as a quickie in the sand dunes... Should you be taking self-catering seriously, or just want to make dinner for friends, there are two bigger hyper-markets on the island, one just outside Ibiza Town (The old 'SYP') and one in the middle of the island (Hypercentrum).
You will need transport to/from both of these, a car is recommended (the SYP is taxi-able, and the San An bus stops at the Hyper').
If you want to stock up on food, head for the SYP, from Ibiza Town towards Santa Eulalia (just past the gated entrance to Ibiza port behind the house with the huge Pacha sign on it). The SYP used to stock everything that you could ever expect to find in a good supermarket, but since it was taken over it tends to stock 'own brand' goods.
If you are looking for anything more hardware-orientated (from cups/glasses, to camping equipment), as well as food shopping, head for the Hypermarket, between Ibiza and San An (just before Privilege).
Both supermarkets have great butchers, fresh food and BBQ supplies should you be planning one.
I am never likely to list the local opening times here as after 20 years I still cannot remember.
