FASHION
If your idea of relaxing is a day out with a credit card, resulting in a new and totally unnecessary wardrobe, you will not be disappointed with what Ibiza has on offer...
Ibiza has an unnecessarily large number of Designer Fashion shops around the town area. Some of the worlds best designers have outlets here, (and some would not dream of opening in a seasonal resort as brash as Ibiza). The most expensive designer shops have gathered around Ibiza Town's main square, Paseo Vara de Rey, and in the newly pedestrianised side streets leading off it. Particularly worth checking out are Atelier, Vestium and Extreme.
A small number of gay-owned and orientated businesses have opened in recent years, providing beach and club wear for those who like to spend on something they can keep. Naturally these are seasonal, and the best bargains can be found at the end of the season. Some import gay designer gear from the US, Germany, Italy, France and the USA and some are outlets run by the designer. All offer something different, and are dangerous places to be let loose in with your own credit card (the boyfriend's is OK).
CRAFT MARKETS

If you are looking for jewellery etc. most of the markets scattered around the resorts in Ibiza offer a similar mix of tame, lame tourist trinkets, mixed with new age twaddle. (Water pipes, little white houses, decorated fans, etc...) The more interesting arts and craft stalls offer hand made jewellery, paintings and occasionally sculptures.
The nearest markets to the gay scene are in Ibiza town, around the harbour area (and a smaller one on the sea front in Figueretes.)
The Ibiza town market is open every night throughout the tourist season and is just about the most interesting on the island. There is certainly little reason to travel to any other resort markets if you are near or are going to be in Ibiza town.
There are dozens of local festivals in Ibiza, each is usually accompanied by a specialist market, the 'Medieval Festival' that marks the beginning of the season in mid-May, is particularly bizarre, but good fun. Local festivals are listed in the IBIZA section (or soon will be).
